neon crap

Somewhere in the midst of my senior year, I think it was during the Crucible-so feb. about, I dyed my hair a reddish color. I really kinda liked it, and was actually a little upset that it was only temporary. One day, however, at a lit. music practice, Christian made the comment "nice hair wamser, what color is that-neon crap?" I thought it was kind of funny, considering that it was a little unnatural for red, and was a little neon-y.
Recently, I was trying to get my hair back to it's original color after numerous dye jobs, and instead of the brown that it was supposed to be, it turned kinda reddish. After about two or three weeks with it, I decided that I liked the red in my hair, and wanted to make it a little more prominant. What better to use than NEON CRAP! It was a red/brown, so it would be perfect! So sunday (actually monday) at about 1 in the am, I did a do-it-yourself dye. What I did not take into consideration was the fact that the hair color I started with last time was very different from the hair color I started with this time. So, as I unwrapped the towel after I was finished, I found myself saying...

WOW , THAT IS RED

Finally

After a far,far too long 5 1/2 week absence, I will finally be returning to St. Louis today! I am so freakin' excited! I am supposed to be able to come home every other weekend, but the last month has played out like this:
weekend 1-Stayed @ school to work
weekend 2-stayed at school to go to a wedding with a friend (yeah,DEFINITELY shoulda come home)
weekend3-stayed @ school to work
weekend 4-went to ren fest in KC
weekend 5-stayed @ school to work
this weekend-HOME FREE, BABY!

Now I just have to make it thru 8am theory and studio class where I have to perform in front of all the music majors and be criticized by teachers in front of everyone... but at 1:30, I have 3 days with nothing but fun! Oooooh I am soooo happy!

So... what now?

Ok, so sadly, the Cardinals are over for the season, after a devastating loss last night to the Astros. Usually when baseball is finished, I move on to football, my other favorite sport. But, this season, the Rams bite... big time. What am I supposed to do now, I have nothing to give me my sports fix! Sure there is hockey, but don't get me started on how much I dislike hockey. Maybe if there are any of those extreme dodgeball tournaments on tv...

I don't know, I guess the Rams just need to stop sucking.

Attention all sisters!

Alright ladies, do you have a sister? If so, then you and your sis NEED to go together to see the new movie In Her Shoes with great performances by Cameron Diaz, Toni Collette, and Shirley MacLaine. I was bored, so I stopped by the local theatre to watch it. As I sat by myself staring at the screen, I thought "God, I wish Julia were here". (For anyone who does not know, Julia is my little sister). We are a little over 2 years apart, so we have about the same age difference as the movie sisters. I don't know if it is the fact that one of us is brunette and one blonde, or if it is that one of us has always had a little (and just a little) more conservative attitude than the other, but I found that we sort of were the girls in the movie (without, of course, the sex and drinking problem).
I really mean it! Go with your sis to see this movie, because at the end of it, you will want to give her a big hug!

Concert time!

So, after our little trip up to ren fest in Kansas Citi this weekend (which was, by the way, really cool), our choir at schoo; is really buckling down. "Why?", you may ask. Well, let me tell you.

On Tuesday, October 25, the SIUE Concert Choir is giving their first concert of the school year. It is at St. Boniface Church in downtown Edwardsville it 7:30 pm. The coolest thing is that we are sharing the concert with the choir from Triad High School. I don't exactly know where they are from, but they are really good! The musical selection is superb, and the performance will be stunning! I have even scored a small solo lasting about 4 or 5 measures! Yay me!
Anyway, I know that it is a longshot, but if anyone is actually interested in driving to edwardsville to come to the concert, email me or comment or something, and I will attempt to give you directions, or at least link you to someone who can!

beautiful

With all of the war, and destruction, along with the terrible hurricanes and whatnot, I decided to post this poem by Shakespeare. My concert choir is singing a rendition of this, and I just think that the words fit perfectly with everything that has happened lately, and even in the past few years or so (even as far back as 9/11). It is really a great peice of poetry.

Sonnet 64

When I have seen by time's fell hand defac'd
The rich proud cost of outworn buried age
When sometimes lofty tow'rs I see downrais'd
And brass eternal slave to mortal rage
When I have seen the hungry ocean gain
Advantage on the kingdom of the shore
And the firm soil win of the wat'ry main
Increasing store with loss and loss with store
When I have seen such interchange of state
Or state itself confounded to decay
Ruin hath taught me thus to ruminate
That time might come and take my love away
This thought is as a death which cannot choose
But weep, to have that which it fears to lose

Isn't that wonderful?
Just beautiful

Movie Mania

As many of you probably don't know, my work schedule looks like this

Mon 6:30-11:30
Tues 6:30-11:30
Wed 6:30-11:30

and every OTHER weekend sat&sun 3:30-10:30

so I am on my own for thursday and friday nights. What do I do? Well, to keep myself out of trouble I try to stay away from most of the crazy parties on and around campus. Because my other options are bowling, shopping, and movies, I find movies to be cheaper than shopping, and more entertaining than bowling. (I am a really sucky bowler).
There is this really nice 12 screen theatre by my house that is the equivalent to St. Louis's Ronnie's 20 (minus the giant arcade). So on thursday or friday, depends on my mood, I am at the theatre seeing one of the newest flicks. Since I have seen a few of the newer ones, I figured that I could give you guys the info on what I found good, and not so good.

Wedding Crashers- pretty funny, but could have been better

Red Eye- great! it did it's job, I was on the edge of my seat.

40 year old virgin- hilarious, really good!

Just Like Heaven - awwwwwwww

Corpse Bride- eh, not as good as I thought. Kinda boring

The Greatest Game Ever Played- Amazing, absolutely loved it!

As for my next movie? I don't know yet. This thursday and friday, the concert choir will be in kansas city at the renaissance festival, so anything that comesout in the next week is in the running.

What do you guys think I should see?
